Visible Communities
Info Day
Community Matters, the National Federation of Community
Organisations, is holding a Regional Info Day on its 'Visible
Communities' programme in east London at Community Links, 105
Barking Road, Canning Town, London E16 4HQ on Tuesday 11 November
2008 from 10.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. The 'Visible Communities'
programme is a quality standard created by and for Community
Centres and Mult-Purpose Community Organisations to use either as a
development tool or to achieve accreditation.
The day event will introduce the programme, explain why the
quality standard is valuable and relevant to your organisation,
will give practical examples as to how you can work through the
programme with support from Community Matters, and hear from groups
who have achieved the standard and the benefits they have
experienced. This event will be of particular interest to:
community centre and community organisation staff and volunteers,
management committee or resident association members, local
authority and housing association officers responsible for
community buidlings.
The 'Visible Communities' standard is the only quality mark that
covers in detail:
- Owning or managing of community assets (buildings and
resources)
- Creating new and multiple services to meet the changing needs
of your local community
- How to be a representative voice for all communities in your
locality
- All the financial and legal matters relevant to community
centres and multi-purpose community organisations
- The required licences and policies you should have in
place
and much, much more... The standard is written in an easy to
use, straightforward manner, can be worked through in stages, and
is one of the only quality standards that comes with a full support
package to help you through the process. The event will include a
networking lunch. A charge of £10, payable in advance, will be made
towards the cost of lunch and refreshments.
