Jargonbuster
Jargonbuster aims to define some of the terms funders
and voluntary and community organisations use in the planning and
managing of projects. It considers the ideas behind the jargon, and
aims to help funders and voluntary and community organisations use
these technical terms more clearly and consistently.
Developed by an informal partnership of funders, regulatory
bodies and voluntary organisations, it has been written by Kevin
Ashby (Big Lottery Fund) and Colin Nee (Charities Evaluation
Services). The Steering Group members include Big Lottery Fund,
Association of Charitable Foundations, The City Bridge Trust,
Charities Evaluation Services, Wates Foundation, Charity
Commission, City Parochial Foundation, Evaluation Support Scotland,
Lloyds TSB Foundation, Charities Aid Foundation, National Council
of Voluntary Organisations and Community Foundation Network.
The Association of Charitable
Foundations has co-ordinated the production of the guide which
is also published on the Charities Aid Foundation's website:
www.cafonline.org/jargonbuster.
At its February 2006 committee meeting, the Trust awarded
the Association of Charitable Foundations a grant of £3,000 towards
the London element of producing this guide.
You are invited to give your feedback over the coming months
(this can be done online). The Steering Group will then produce a
revised version based on the feedback received. The guide will then
be updated on a regular basis.
